Harshita Arora is a young Indian app developer who has won the prestigious award by Country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At her early age, she has been conferred the Bal Shakti Puraskar 2020 award for her 'Crypto Price Tracker' despite the country's uncertain stand on the crypto world.
Mr.Modi tweeted about her achievement on January 24, saying;
However, to address several questions raised by Indin Crypto-community regarding the crypto price tracker, we (Tabassum from Bit2Buzz) interviewed Harshita Arora.
Tabassum - Brief about your application. What technologies have you used to build it and how long did it take it to build the application?
Harshita Arora - I created a crypto portfolio management and price tracking application and launched it in Jan 2018. It took about 3 months to complete the whole process of application. Within 24 hours of its launch, my app became the #2 app in the Finance category of the Apple App Store. Then the app was featured on the App Store by Apple. It received recognition from multiple media and news outlets such as The Times of India, YourStory, Inc, The Daily Beast, and 50+ more. It was acquired by Redwood City Ventures in March 2018, where I worked as a technical consultant until Dec 2018. The app was shut down by them in 2019.
Tabassum - What the application named as and was it applicable only for iOS?
Harshita Arora - Was only on iOS and it was called Crypto Price Tracker.
Tabassum - How did you get into Crypto and what was your motive behind creating the Crypto tracker application.
Harshita Arora - I got interested in cryptocurrencies and blockchain after reading about how they work in an IT magazine called Digit when I was in 7th grade. I created the Crypto Price Tracker app for cryptocurrency investors and enthusiasts who didn't have any good mobile apps for managing their portfolios, tracking prices, setting alerts, etc.
Tabassum - How is your application different from the other crypto price tracking applications available?
Harshita Arora - Before my app was launched, there were only a handful of apps in the market and all of them poorly designed and lacking necessary features which are what inspired me to work on Crypto Price Tracker.
Tabassum - Did the Indian government's negative stand on crypto weigh on your mind while developing the app? Or did you have a purely global outlook while developing it?
Harshita Arora - I had a global outlook while developing since there were millions of people interested in the space in late-2017/early-2018 time.
Tabassum - Brief about the acquisition deal.!
Harshita Arora - You can find all the details about how it happened in the press release by the acquiring company HERE
Tabassum - What are you working on now? Are you planning for other exciting projects in the Crypto field?
Harshita Arora - I'm not working in the crypto world anymore but instead in the transportation & energy field. I'm a co-founder of AtoB, a sustainable transportation startup in the Bay Area. AtoB is working on creating a network for intercity commuters using buses to solve commuting, cities, and the climate. AtoB has been funded by top investors: Bloomberg Beta; Peter Light (former head of energy at Google X); Ali Vahabzadeh (Chariot founder and CEO, acquired by Ford for $65 million); Silus Reddy (a CxO at Shuttl India); Tommy Leep (climate tech-focused investor); and others.
We do it for you and you share it for us :-)
